Elizabeth Cush on Women Podcasters of Color

Addressing racism requires that white people make an effort to understand the world as people of color experience it. Woman Worriers host Elizabeth Cush introduces listeners to three women of color who host amazing and informative podcasts from their unique perspectives.

It hit me then, as it does now, that that level of fear is something that black moms experience probably every day.
— Elizabeth Cush

Show Notes:

The massive protests across the United States in the wake of George Floyd’s death in the custody of the Minneapolis police have aimed a spotlight on systemic racism in this country. Many of us wonder what we can do to support people of color, how we can possibly help right wrongs that have gone on for so long. How can we do better? In this episode of the Woman Worriers podcast, host Elizabeth Cush, LCPC, a licensed professional therapist and founder of Progression Counseling in Annapolis, Md., shares her own personal journey toward recognizing and calling out racism. She also introduces podcasts of interest to listeners that are hosted by three friends and colleagues—all women of color: Dr. Joy Harden Bradford, Andrea Jones and Adriana Alejandre, LMFT, a previous guest on the Woman Worriers podcast. Plus, she shares resources for those who are willing to do the work necessary to obtain a deeper understanding of how the white patriarchal culture has impacted the lives of people of color in this country and what we can do about it.
