Stephannie Weikert on Saying “Yes” to Stress

Stress can drive us to do things we don’t want to do. In this episode of Woman Worriers, host Elizabeth Cush interviews Stephannie Weikert, a certified yoga therapist, about simple practices that can help you overcome habits related to worry and to find what really makes you happy.

It’s not just about managing stress, it’s about saying Yes, this is my body and my mind’s way of trying to show me that something is out of alignment here or that there’s an opportunity to really do something important.”
— Stephannie Weikert

Show Notes:

When you get stressed, you might reach for a cigarette, or a glass of wine or a cupcake. When you’re worried, you might bite your nails, pick at your cuticles or pull at your hair. We often turn to behaviors to soothe ourselves, often creating unwanted habits in the process. In this episode of the Woman Worriers podcast, host Elizabeth Cush, LCPC, of Progression Counseling in Annapolis, Md., welcomes Stephannie Weikert, a Certified Yoga Therapist and creator of Make Peace With Stress, a simple method for managing stress by using the most basic principles of yoga. They talk about the choice we have to make regarding stress and its role in our lives, explain how yoga can help, and share how a simple acronym—Pause NOW—provides a footprint for shedding unwanted behaviors, looking at stress as an opportunity for change, and learning to listen to what you really want and need so you can stop struggling with the demands of life and be more present, more calm, more confident every day.
