Show Notes:

Research on “green exercise”—activities outdoors in nature—found that being in green environments improved both mood and self-esteem. The effect was even greater near water. In this episode of the Woman Worriers podcast, host Elizabeth Cush, LCPC, a licensed professional therapist and founder of Progression Counseling in Annapolis, Md., talks about the research and how nature provides the perfect backdrop for practicing mindfulness. She’ll also lead you through three mindfulness exercises that you can try the next time you step outdoors.

Listen and learn:

  • What mindfulness is and why it’s easier to practice it when we’re outside in nature

  • How nature makes us feel better

  • Tips for practicing “mindful walking”
